For High School Students

Performance at OFS Flute Fair

Saturday, April 3, 2027 at Oklahoma State University

ELIGIBILITY: Open to high school OFS members who are Oklahoma residents or attending a school in Oklahoma. There is no application fee.

OVERVIEW: Interested students should submit a Pre-Application Form by September 15, 2026. Excerpts of the new work by Adolphus Hailstork will be emailed to applicants on September 16, 2026. Applicants will record the excerpts and submit with the Final Application Form by November 1, 2026. Applicants will be notified by email in mid-November. The selected performer will be sent the entire piece at that time. Dr. Sam Magrill will be the collaborative pianist for the performance at Flute Fair and his fee will be paid by the Oklahoma Flute Society. Rehearsals will be arranged at the convenience of the soloist and Dr. Magrill.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF THE COMMISSION: Students and their teachers will be asked to sign a confidentiality statement declaring that they will not show the excerpts to anyone else. (Pre-Application Form and Teacher Agreement Form).

RECORDING GUIDELINES: Recordings should be in MP3 format (audio only) and labeled with the student’s full name. Recordings are coded for anonymity before judging. Excerpts should be recorded in one take without stopping the recording. The recording must not be edited in any way. Edited recordings will be disqualified.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1 – By September 15, 2026, 11:59 p.m.

Step 2 – September 16, 2026 – Receive excerpts from the new work by Adolphus Hailstork

Step 3 – By November 1, 2026, 11:59 p.m. – Submit Final Application Form with recording of excerpts uploaded.

LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
