2020 Collegiate Competition
The Oklahoma Flute Society announces the following upcoming Flute Competitions to be held at the 2020 OFS Flute Fair.
The Entry Deadline is Friday, January 17, 2020, 11:59 p.m., C.S.T.
The collegiate competition is open to OFS members enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students. Entrants must be current OFS members and register for flute fair. There is no additional entry fee. Previous first-prize winners are not eligible to re-enter.
Cash prizes of $500 and $300 will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the competition. The winner will also perform on the OFS flute fair gala concert, Saturday of Flute Fair.
The Collegiate Competition includes a preliminary Recorded Round and a Final Round. OFS will select up to four (4) finalists to advance to the Final Round. These finalists will perform their flute and piano piece from the recorded round along with Muczynski's Three Preludes for solo flute, Op. 18. Final Round is a live performance and an audience is present.
The Recording Round Repertoire consists of two items: 1.) A required piece: Muczynski's Three Preludes for solo flute, Op. 18 and 2.) A piece of your choice for flute and piano. The flute and piano piece should not exceed 10 minutes in length. No unaccompanied works.
More Information on the Making Your Recording:
Multi-movement works are acceptable, but must be recorded as a live performance without stopping the recording between movements. Time between movements is included in the 10-minute total. Single movements or selected movements (recorded without pause) are also allowed. Recordings must not be edited in any way. The recording must be made with accompaniment. No cuts allowed in the flute part, however, cuts in the piano introduction/interludes are acceptable. Repeated sections marked by dot repeats or first/second endings are at the performer’s discretion.
